Functional Medicine

The primary driver of chronic disease is the interaction among genes, activities of daily living (lifestyle), and the environment. Functional medicine is an approach to treating health conditions and preventing disease by finding the root cause of your health issues.

However, instead of stamping you with a diagnosis and only treating your symptoms, functional medicine finds out WHY you have the diagnosis. By reversing the specific dysfunctions that have contributed to the disease state, one can restore a state of health.

Clinical Dietitian

Clinical dieticians are an important part of our practice. Working with the Doctors they help design and lead nutritional programs to improve or maintain the health of patients. These programs may be short-term, such as to ensure that proper nutrition is delivered if there is a particular needed or long term when we are adjusting overall lifestyle.

At DNA Health, we carry out detailed functional tests to understand the patients’ nutritional needs. Based on the results of these tests, and the advice from the doctors, the  clinical dietitian creates personalised programmes to help clients lose weight, gain muscles, or achieve optimal health.

Homeopathy

Homoeopathy is a therapeutic medical system, which is based on the homoeopathic Law of Similars, also expressed as “Let Likes be Cured by Likes”. The word homoeopathy is derived from the Greek words homoios, meaning like, and pathos, meaning suffering. This law stems from the observation that substances that are capable of causing diseases of the mind or body in healthy people can be used in diluted form as remedies to treat a similar disorder in someone who is ill.

The key to successful homoeopathic treatment is identifying the similarity between the effects of the original substance in healthy people and the pattern of illness in the individual who is sick. It is the similarity that is essential. The homoeopathic method involves obtaining a complete and detailed description of the patient, the illness and its evolution. Specifically, prepared and diluted medicinal substances are dispensed as potentised remedies to the patient.

Yoga and Meditation

Over the past two decades, mind-body interventions like meditation and mindfulness have been gaining empirical support for their ability to lessen perceived stress, alleviate depression, reduce loneliness, downregulate central inflammatory pathways, and benefit immune regulation. This may be beneficial for people suffering from chronic inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and asthma, in which psychological stress plays a role.

Yoga and meditation is also used in combination with other medical interventions to help treat:

Naturopathy

Naturopathy is a system of primary health care for the prevention and treatment of disease and promotion of health; through the support and stimulation of a patient’s inherent self- healing process.

Naturopathy focuses on educating the patient and utilizes natural therapies to support body’s healing mechanism. The Practice of Naturopathic Medicine does not include surgical procedures, use of prescription medications, and the treatment of infectious diseases.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-sacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on technique that uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of the fluids in and around the central nervous system. The therapy is designed to relieve tension in the central nervous system, promoting a feeling of well-being by eliminating pain and boosting your overall health and immunity.

Cranio-sacral therapy is commonly used to treat:
