Specialised functional and integrative medicine clinics in Dubai & Abu Dhabi
DNA Health is at the forefront of Functional and Integrative medicine. As the only specialised centre in the UAE, DNA Health has established itself as the go to clinic for functional medicine.
We have grown our practice by attracting the most talented practitioners in the region and built a team that includes functional medicine practitioners, functional nutritionists, clinical nutritionists, naturopaths and traditional medical doctors. By combining the expertise of our team, we can truly provide a holistic approach to your health and wellness.
At DNA Health we approach treating health conditions and preventing disease by finding the root cause of your health issues.
Instead of stamping you with a diagnosis and only treating your symptoms we finds out WHY you have the diagnosis. By reversing the specific dysfunctions that have contributed to the disease state, one can restore a state of health.
More and more patients turn to us for answers and solutions
Functional Medicine practice emphasises that chronic disease is almost always preceded by a period of declining function in one or more of the body’s physiological organising systems. Returning patients to health requires reversing (or substantially improving) the specific dysfunctions that contributed to the disease state. Those dysfunctions of each of us, the result of lifelong interactions among our environment, our lifestyle choices and our genetic predispositions.
Each patient therefore represents a unique complex and interwoven set of influences on intrinsic functionality that over time set the stage for the development of disease and the maintenance of health. To manage the complexity inherent in this approach, functional medicine has adopted practical models for obtaining and evaluating clinical information that leads to individualised patient centred therapies.
Our approach is based on the following principles:
- Acknowledging the biological individuality of each human being, based on the concepts of genetic and environmental uniqueness;
- Addressing the web-like interconnections of internal physiologic factors;
- Promoting organ reserve as a means of enhancing the health span, not just the lifespan, of each patient; and
- Incorporating a patient centred rather than a disease centred approach to treatment;
- Seeking a dynamic balance among the internal and external factors in the patient body, mind and spirit;
- Identifying health as a positive vitality not merely the absence of disease and emphasising those factors encourage a vigorous physiology;
- Staying abreast of emerging research – a science-based approach;

F.A.Q’s
Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Functional Medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.
Functional Medicine incorporates the latest in genetic science, systems biology, and understanding of how environmental and lifestyle factors influence the emergence and progression of disease.
This approach enables physicians and other health professionals to practice proactive, predictive, personalized medicine and empowers patients to take an active role in their own health.
Unlike traditional medicine, which often focuses on treating symptoms, functional medicine seeks to understand and treat the underlying causes of illness. It involves a comprehensive examination of a patient’s lifestyle, diet, and environment, alongside conventional diagnostic techniques.
Functional medicine is particularly effective for chronic conditions like autoimmune diseases, metabolic disorders, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, and cardiovascular diseases. It also addresses lifestyle-related issues, mental health, and preventive health care.
The consultation charge is usually covered by most insurance providers. However, some tests and treatments in functional medicine may not be covered. It’s best to check with your insurance provider for details and also our customer care team can advise your further.
A referral is not required to see a functional medicine practitioner.
Yes, functional medicine can complement traditional treatments. It often works in tandem with conventional medicine, providing a more comprehensive approach to healthcare.
An initial appointment with one our functional medicine practitioners can last up to 45-60 minutes. The practitioner must not only collect information about the contributing factors of the present health problem, but develop a comprehensive understanding of the patient’s daily living habits, prior illnesses and traumas, environmental exposures, and genetic influences.
