Yin Yoga: for your mind & body

Yin Yoga is a slower more meditative practice. While many schools of Yoga are “Yang” in nature and focus on dynamic movements and muscles, Yin Yoga focuses on targeting the deep connective tissues like your fascia, joints and ligaments.

Passive, supported poses are held for anywhere between 3-5 minutes. This allows the body and mind to reach silence and stillness while helping activate the parasympathetic nervous system for deep healing and rest. This also helps to stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while teaching you how to breathe through any discomfort and sit with your thoughts.

As we draw our energy and attention inwards, we give ourselves an opportunity to hear and tend to ourselves.

As much as Yin Yoga is a physical practice it also works with the energy body based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles. Following the theory that there are pathways of Chi (energy) that run through our bodies, lengthening and opening up the body creates more space to allow any stagnant or blocked Chi to flow more freely. Flowing Chi helps to cultivate vitality and optimal wellbeing.

Yoga is more than just physically working your body. Yoga can improve your bodies strength, flexibility and balance, whilst also calming your mind and improving your posture
